Last month I mentioned that I received notice that Eden's poetry titled Beauty is...was chosen by the PTA committee of Walnut Creek school district. Well, she won a blue ribbon. On Saturday, December 5 (our Anniversary) we received notice that Eden's poetry work along with other winning pieces would be on display at the Walnut Creek Middle School Library.
It was such a joy to see my little Edie Pie's name and poem on display like at a real art gallery. We got a chance to ask someone in charge there what it meant and she said it is an honor to be chosen out of all the entries at her school and other surrounding schools. Needless to say we couldn't be any prouder!
Well, perhaps just a tad bit more. Just before Thanksgiving break we had a parent teacher conference with Eden's teacher. She got such a great report card and the teacher had so many wonderful things to say about her. She gave them a pop quiz on math and Eden got only one wrong! She was even given a challenge math problem and got it with no problems. She said she is her top math student and a very talented writer, creative, imaginative. Already! She said that Eden's got all the fundamentals to go far and the passion to pursue whatever she wants to. That's so true!
We have signed Eden up for Piano lessons that will begin in January 2010 and are starting to introduce her to Spanish and perhaps Mandarin which is being offered at her school. Also, she has just been moved up to Intermediate dance at the ballet school which means three classes a week on top of her part in the Christmas Dance show which she practices for two hours on Sundays. She will be a Soldier again and also a Cookie. She's loving it.
