Eden has been so busy with camps this summer! In the end of June her and a friend, Molly went to Oakland Zoo camp. They had a BLAST! I mean every day they had nothing but great things to say. They enjoyed not only studying the animals and learning about them, but they also got a chance to explore the Arroyo park and dabbled in a little Nature play, to say the least. Let's just say everyday I had to pack a lunch as big as a mans lunch and Eden was still hungry afterward. Camp was 5 days from 9-3 pm. A big fun fun day. The very last day of camp the campers and leaders put on a sing for us. It was very charming!
That same week my mom took vacation and so we got a chance to get some girl time and we took Lola to Tilden Park for Train Rides and also the Carousel near Lake Anza. It was so much fun! We also went to Children's Fairyland, one of the girls' favorite places.
In July Eden went to Girl Scout camp. I can't stress what fun this really was for her. This is how awesome it was for her: She sang camp songs all day! She bragged about how much fun it was learning archery for the first time (and she actually hit the target!). She couldn't wait to go every day. They had such fun activities and they even cooked their own meals together over a campfire daily. They made ice creams, icees and really neat foods. They also had swimming! Even though she didn't have a friend from her troop there, she "Made new friends" like the girl scout song says. This camp rocked for her.
While Eden was at camp Lolie and I did some really fun mommy and daughter things together. I took her to the parks for picnics and we went to Pixie Playland in Concord where we got on rides (yes, even the roller coasters), fed ducks at the pond, and shared snow cones. It was such a special time.
The last camp Eden had was camp Galileo which is a science camp. I learned that my girl is really good at science! She enjoyed it so much and she learned about African art and mythology while also learning about the environment and how to take responsibility for our planet. She built things like water conservative shower heads (this was really cool!) At seven I sure didn't do this kind of stuff. It was mind blowing. Also she made an african quilt, and a real african drum. Her camp leader Meera had so many wonderful things to say about her. One day she put together a science project all on her own and it turned out to be the most inventive and the best, that's what the leader said. At the end of the week she earned a certificate and she gained a whole lot of confidence. That camp was really great! Not only did she learn science and African culture, but they did some fun fun things. One day was safari day and Eden went with elephant face painting and safari gear. They also had wacky hair day. She had tons of pony's on her head with colorful hair clips.
She will definitely do camps again next year. It was really a wonderful enriching experience for her.
