Pier 39 and China Town

Lola video on the Jumper:

Nana took us girls to San Francisco for a day of fun. We decided to go to Pier 39 and China Town.

At Pier 39 the girls enjoyed playing games at the arcade. Eden won over 400 tickets! She was able to redeem them for some really cool toys. She was so good at those games! Lola won about 100 tickets with our help, of course. The girl behind the counter gave her a couple of extra toys which was so nice.

Afterwards the girls got on the famous two level carousel. This was such a fun ride for them. They rode it a couple of times and then we went to the Candy Baron where the girls went crazy stuffing their baskets with taffy, lollipops and other tasty treats. It was such a beautiful, warm sunny day so we sat on the pier and watched the ships pass by. The view of Alcatraz Island and the Golden gate Bridge were incredible. Then we walked over to see the new tourists in the Bay, the Seals. The girls loved seeing the biggest ones and the baby ones. Boy were they stinky. The seals, not the girls.

Lola really wanted to ride one of those bungie jumpie things and I was so very shocked at that. So was a whole crowd of people. All you heard was "Oh my gawd. She's so little!" Lola was quite the talk for her two minutes on that Jumper. I have to admit it, she is incredibly brave for being 3 1/2. Really! I had one mom stand there and watch the whole time commenting because her 12 year old wouldn't even get near that machine. And the funny thing is, Lola wanted to ride it again! Not this time. That was a very special moment seeing her little self on such a huge contraption.

After the Pier, we took the girls to China Town. They so love shopping for all the fun little toys and Eden is crazy about fans. She is more than crazy about them. She has at least 6 of them and she saw the mother of all fans. It was meant for hanging on a wall and was about three feet wide! She threw a fit when I said absolutely not. Poor child had to settle for three smaller fans, but I had to put my foot down on that one.

We had such a great time. We were starved and decided to eat at a really delicious Hunan Restaurant. I can't remember the name of it, but the food was delicious! We must go again. It was the perfect way to end a perect day.

Father's Day Camping Trip in Mendocino

We decided to surprise dad with a camping trip to Mendocino KOA Kamp for Father's Day. We thought it would be something fun for everyone and manly enough for dad on father's day. We were to stay two nights.
When we left Walnut Creek it was 96 degrees! So let's just say the camp in Mendocino is on the beach and FREEZING!!!! It was 45 degrees and I packed nothing but summer-y clothes for us and we forgot to pack a bag for Enrique (whoops!) although I did pack him a toothbrush. We were so freezing cold and had to buy thick socks, hats and because I didn't bring warm clothing for myself, I had to wear Eden's school sweatshirt (a wee bit too small to say the least) and Enrique's huge jacket.
The camp had some really fun activities because it was Fathers Day weekend. We rode the dune buggies which was fun and crazy. The girls had a blast with that one. Then there was a pool and jacuzzi which the girls and their dad took advantage of. I read most of the time. Something I loved doing before I had children and just couldn't find the time for after children. It was really nice catching the reading bug again! I actually finished a book!
Then, of course, there was the beach. Lola spent her time digging in the sand while Eden and Enrique picked up huge chuncks of driftwood and made them into shelters. The ocean was magnificent, but so frightening for me. The waves were massive and intimidating. I wouldn't let the girls anywhere near the water. Too risky that day.
Saturday before Pop's day, the girls went to the camp community center where they got to make dad a huge wooden plaque. The girls thought the log piece was really cool because sap was coming out of it. They got to paint on them and they had a such a great time making something special for their dad.
The next morning on Father's Day we took Enrique to a Father's Day Breakfast provided by the camp site. It was pretty good. The girls very proudly handed their art work to their dad and we were off for home! Back to 90 degree weather!
I think he had a great time. It was just a short trip, but so worth it.
