Hot Mamas and Papa

It was to be a very very hot day and we just couldn't take it so we made it into a day of fun at the coast. This is something Enrique and I used to do years and years ago even before we were married. We used to leave super early in the morning and ride the coast starting in Pacifica, stopping at a few beaches, eating at a few places and ending up in Santa Cruz. It used to be so romantic and a ton of fun! We decided to take the girls and go where , well, the waves took us. We didn't get as far as Santa Cruz, but we ended our trip in Half moon Bay.
The girls LOVED the beaches, especially Eden who is an absolute water baby. She should have been born in the water, she loves it no matter how cold it gets. I got some really great pics of her with the waves, which were pretty wild.
It was the perfect time to go because it was so mild and lovely on the beaches, we didn't even need sweaters.

While in Half Moon Bay we took advantage of a little ocean fishing, but the girls by that time were done and tired and hungry again. We ate at a restaurant on the wharf. We all got fish and chips. Lola got shrimp. Her favorite.

We didn't get back home until 9:30 that night. The girls were out. It was a day we will all remember. The girls have been begging to go again. We definitely will. That was a blast!

My Girl's A Ballerina

I just had to note I am so thrilled because not only am I the proud mommy of one incredible ballerina but now I am the mom of two! Lola finally asked to take ballet and she loves it just as much as her big sis. They both will be performing in June, Lola's first show.

Here are just a few pics...

Mother's Day with the Girls and Nana

On Mother's Day we girls went to our traditional mother's day spot, the Oakland Zoo. I can't remember when this tradition first started, but it's been something we've done for the past few years. It's one of our favorite spots and we all enjoy it. I think it's special because I have been going to this zoo since I was five years old, and now I take my kids there.

We started the day with a breakfast at Buttercup, one of our favorite breakfast spots. Then it was off to the Zoo. It was such a lovely, bright, sunny day. My mom and I exchanged presents (I was quite spoiled!) and then we got on a few rides. The train was free for us moms to ride, which was a nice treat. The girls loved the Tiger Rollercoaster and we got on this at least four times, if not more. Lola even got me to ride the cable ride that goes above the whole zoo and higher than the tallest tree there. It's so frightening to me especially when it goes above the lions' den. But I didn't want Lola to be afraid of the ride so I took her. It was so very long, but I have to admit, it was fun talking with her and chatting about the various animals we saw. She waved hello to other riders and snapped a few pictures of the animals below.
We really had a great time! Afterward, we came home and ate some pizza and Enrique gave me flowers and a card. It was such a nice relaxing day. I was coming down with a terrible cold though which would turn into a sinus infection. Just can't seem to get these allergies under control. It was a really wonderful Mother's Day in spite of feeling sick!

Mom's Day Weekend Girl Fun

The day before mom's day the girls made me a breakfast in bed and lavished me with homemade gifts and flowers. Eden made me a carousel! Really a carousel made from cardstock and it was so very creative. She comes up with these ideas and she actually executes them. She is such an artistic person. So creative. When she has a vision she goes through with it and follows through. Drove my mom crazy because she helped her with this incredible project and she actually gave up on it because she said it couldn't possibly be done. Don't tell Eden that, however. I will never forget this gift, EVER! Just incredible.

The girls wanted to make me a Mother's Day weekend which works for me. They were so full of I love you's and lots of hugs and foot rubs and just so very loving and caring. They even made me a cake. It's such a wonderful feeling because they really wanted to make the day (or days) special for me.

We had so much fun! The girls did my hair and make-up. I had no idea I was wearing the wrong color. According to Eden blue eye shadow was my color and Lola thought yellow was the best and blue on my lips. We got all prettied up and took some fun pictures. We had such a fun girlie day! I haven't laughed so hard in such a long time. They're so silly!

Here are some pics of the carousel. The animals actually go up and down manually. The top has gold painted macaroni. The horses bars are painted sticks she found with Nana in the yard.

Mom's Day Tea at the Tea Room with Eden

Did I mention how very fun it is to be a mommy?? Eden and I have a very special and important tradition. Every mom's day we go to Englund's Tea Room in Concord for a special mom's day tea. Just the two of us. We are treated like royalty. Eden always orders the Wee tea which consists of a tiered platter with child friendly treats and little finger sandwiches. This year she enjoyed her very own pot of Blueberry tea. Her most favorite part are the sugar cubes because they have little candy flowers on them. By the end of our tea the whole bowl is usally empty. It's the one time I let her have at it. It's such a thrill to her.

I also enjoy a tiered platter with an incredible array of delectible finger sandwiches, finger foods and petits fours and devonshire sauces. I always get the Breakfast tea. The whole time we get to chat about everything. It's such a girlie fun thing. I love spending time with Eden and getting a chance to talk with her and listen to her without any interruptions. And the smile on that girls face is priceless! Absolutely priceless.

We always look forward to this day and we get all dolled up for the event. It's our special one on one time. One that we both treasure very much.

Me and my Boo...

This was such a very special event at Lola's Preschool! We had such a great time and such a special experience. I can't stress this enough.
It's the kind of thing that makes you so happy and so proud to be a mom, you cry. Happy tears of course. Let me tell you what happend first:

The night before the event Eden came down with a bad bad cold. I emailed my mom asking for her help with watching Eden, because Lola was so looking forward to our Mom's Day tea at her school. She even picked out our outfits and she couldn't stop talking about it. So, thankfully my mom was available to help watch Eden. Thank you again mom! Life saver!

When I first walked into the room Lola ran up to me and said, "Mommy I love you!" and she lead me to the table which had been set with placemats that the children made that said "God loves You" and there were plants that they grew just for us moms. The kids got to sit on our laps and we shared a "spot of tea." That morning in preparation for the day, the kids made homemade blueberry muffins for us moms. It was so very precious! Lola held on tight to me and kept saying she loved me. She was so happy and so very proud of herself. Then she gave me a cloth book mark that she made and painted and a card that was shaped like a tea pot with her picture on it and a wonderful mom's day poem and a tea bag.

I felt like crying! I really really enjoy these moments. I remember my first tea at Eden's preschool. My goodness time flies by WAY TOO TOO FAST! It was just yesterday my babies were babies. Now one's almost as tall as me and the other corrects me every day and asks a million questions.

First Grade Sing Part Two

Here are additional photos and video per Nana's request! Here goes: Enjoy!

Eden's First Grade Sing Night

On Wednesday, April 22, Eden's school had a Kindergarten First Grade Sing. The kids have been working on a number of songs the whole year and they got an opportunity to share it with friends and family that evening.

Eden was so adorable. She danced the whole time she sang. It was very charming. Now I see why the Music teacher said she's the dancer of the group. I saw why that night. She's the tall one in the very back (her usual spot everywhere she goes, poor thing!) She's the one who's a whole head taller than everyone else.

I had a tough time getting the camera still and focused because I had little monkey Lola climbing on me the whole time. It was such an exciting event!

It was me, Dad, and Lola that attended. Poor Nana had bronchitis (very badly and was told to stay home and rest by me and her doctor) and I was barely there because I too had bronchitis, but was in denial of it.

We still made a fun time of it and ate at McDonald's for dinner to celebrate. It was really alot of fun and a warm pleasant evening. It's moments like these that make me realize just how lucky I am to have my little family. I feel so blessed.
